Come to our AGM!

12 May 2015 by kate Leave a Comment

Global Justice Oxford is holding its Annual General Meeting tonight. This is a chance to find out more about the group, get involved with our decision-making and perhaps get involved with our work. Several roles are up for re-election:

  • Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Communications Officer

The people currently filling these roles are all standing down, so this is a great opportunity to get involved with the group and maybe add a new responsibility to your CV.

We’re meeting in the (wheelchair-accessible) Ploughman Room at Oxford Town Hall from 7:30pm.

Speak Up! Climate action day

11 May 2015 by kate Leave a Comment

The things we love are threatened by climate change – but we can protect them by urging politicians to act. In June, come and meet your MP and tell them why fighting climate change matters to you.

What? A day of action on climate change. Thousands of us will come together from across the UK to celebrate all that we love, and meet our representatives to ask them to commit to strong action on climate change during this crucial year.

Where? Palace of Westminster, Central London.

When? Wednesday 17th June, 12pm-5:30pm.

More details to follow. This event is not organised by Global Justice Now.

25 April 2015 by kate Leave a Comment

A number of Oxford-based groups have joined together in organising environment-themed election hustings. Now there is a website recording candidates’ responses to the questions they’ve been asked. Most of the work organising the hustings has been done by Oxford Friends of the Earth. Other groups supporting the eco-hustings include Oxford Greenpeace, Fossil-Free Oxfordshire, Cyclox and of course Global Justice Oxford.
