TUESDAY 12 FEBRUARY 7.30pm
Oxford Town Hall, St Aldate’s, Oxford OX1 1BX
Speaker: Danny Dorling
(The Town Hall is only 15 minutes’ walk from Oxford Train Station and closer to Gloucester Green Bus Station and city centre bus stops at High Street and Magdalen Street.)
Danny Dorling has worked widely in the fields of inequality and public policy. He will give a thought-provoking talk linking global inequality to Brexit.
His most recent book co-authored with Sally Tomlinson is Rule Britannia. It is a call to leave behind the jingoistic ignorance of the past and build a fairer Britain, eradicating the inequality that blights our society and embracing our true strengths.
In his previous book, Peak Inequality, he explores whether we have now reached ‘peak inequality’. He concludes, crucially, by predicting what the future holds for Britain, as attempts are made to defuse the ticking time bomb while we simultaneously try to negotiate Brexit and react to the wider international situation of a world of people demanding to become more equal.
Danny is Professor of Geography at the University of Oxford and visiting professor at the Universities of London and Bristol. He is also a member of the National Advisory Panel for the Centre for Labour and Social Studies and visiting fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research. He is a patron of RoadPeace.
