Time for the Climate

September 20, 2015 by sheffield

Saturday 28th November, Time for the Climate, 12pm-4:30pm

Let’s tell our leaders it’s time to leave the age of fossil fuels behind! Come with your family and friends and be part of our growing climate movement – all welcome!

We’d like everyone to join a mass sing and silent vigil at 2pm – we will post timings of other specific activities soon. Keep checking here and on our blog.

This is part of the Global People’s Climate March so if you have already signed up via avaaz or 350.org please do join our Facebook event too, but we’ll keep both updated.

We’ll be in Tudor Square, outside Crucible Theatre and indoor spaces nearby from 12 noon to 4.30pm, with loads going on including: stalls, refreshments and activities ‘Climate Cake-Off’, Make a Wind Turbine, Face-painting, ‘Evil Frackers’ Photo Booth, cycle rides, bands and choirs and a debate.

Venue: Tudor Square, Off Norfolk Street, Sheffield, , S1 1DA,

Organised by Sheffield Climate Alliance

Part of the UK-wide series of actions at the beginning of the UN climate talks in Paris (the 21st conference of the parties, or COP 21) to call for a fair and adequate deal to prevent catastrophic climate change – and to continue building a powerful movement to overcome corporate interests and force governments to act in the interests of the majority and of future generations.

Please join us if you are interested in campaigning for a better world where resources are controlled by the many, not the few.

Current Campaigns

Don't let corporate courts block climate action.
Corporate courts give fossil fuel companies the power to sue governments for taking action on the climate emergency. They are an obstacle to a clean energy transition and to achieving climate justice. Tell Keir Starmer and the trade department not to let corporate courts block climate action.

Prime Minister: Support the Global Exit Plan from Fossil Fuels
The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty is a global plan to bring a fast and fair end to the era of coal, oil and gas. This transformative global plan is being championed by climate-vulnerable countries in te global sout. Now we need big polluting states like the UK on board.

We’re part of Global Justice Now, a democratic membership organisation which campaigns against inequality and injustice in the global economy. We want to see a world where ordinary people control the resources they need to live a decent life, rather than corporations and the super rich calling the shots.
