To a packed audience (35) in the Stones Room at RISC we screened the short film, ‘BOOMERANG: How the legacies of empire are breaking Britain’s economy’. ‘BOOMERANG’ examines how an honest reckoning with the legacies of empire can help us understand and address the roots of our current crises to finally create an economy that works for all. ‘GAMBLING WITH FOOD’

23 November 2022 7.30 pm at RISC

At our November meeting, Nick Dearden, director of our national organisation, gave us an insightful talk about how speculation is fuelling the appalling increase in food and energy prices around the world. He also gave us the good news that Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, France, Germany and Luxembourg are leaving the Energy Charter Treaty so now is the time to put even more pressure on our own government to leave. 28th September 7.30 pm at RISC

A diverse and enthusiastic group met at RISC to watch two short films and engage in animated discussion. There was an interesting mix of new members and stalwart members. A very successful evening led by Jackie with technical help from Shynee.

Food for Change

Wednesday 20th July at RISC at 7.30 pm

Food is in the news. Experts are sounding dire warnings about food insecurity and rising prices as war in Ukraine, climate change and inflation take their toll. There is enough food to feed everyone but millions still suffer from hunger and malnutrition.

What would be the best way of creating a sustainable, democratic and resilient food system? Talk, film and discussion.
