Conference: Just Economics

August 20, 2013 by sheffield

Saturday 16th November, 10am-4pm

St. Mark’s Centre for Radical Christianity invites you to “Just” Economics with Ann Pettifor.

Info: 10am – 4.00pm (9.15 Coffee and Registration), Non-members £14, CRC/PCN Members £12, Students £5.
Booking: 0114 266 3613 or email info@stmarkscrc.co.uk (early booking recommended)
Venue: St. Mark’s Church, 4 St. Mark’s Crescent, Broomhill, Sheffield S10 2SG

You can also book a packed lunch (sandwich, cake, fruit and soft drink) for £4.50 or bring your own. Coffee and tea included in main booking fee.

About Ann Pettifor: Ann is an internationally respected economist and an excellent speaker. In relation to the current financial crisis, she argues that austerity measures are not needed, will not work and are undoubtedly unjust. The economy must serve human need rather than human needs being sacrificed to a one-eyed and amoral view of economics.

Current Campaigns

Don't let corporate courts block climate action.
Corporate courts give fossil fuel companies the power to sue governments for taking action on the climate emergency. They are an obstacle to a clean energy transition and to achieving climate justice. Tell Boris Johnson and the trade department not to let corporate courts block climate action.

Suspend patents on Covid-19 vaccines.
We are facing a global scarcity of vaccines because big pharma patents and corporate secrecy prevent other manufacturers from making them. We need the government to remove the barriers to ramp up global supply and ensure fair allocation of vaccines. No one is safe until everyone is safe. Join the campaign for A People's Vaccine.
