Representatives of Colombian communities affected by BHP Billiton, the world’s largest mining company, are coming to the UK to protest and talk about their experiences. WDM is working with London Mining Network (LNM) and other allies in the UK to host these speakers.
Come and meet Columbian and Indonesian speakers discussing the current situation in the coal mining regions of Colombia, and the import of coal into the UK and British mining. The tour speakers will include:
Francisco Tovar, Treasurer, FECODEMIGUA (The Federation of Communities Displaced by Mining in La Guajira, Colombia);
Rogelio Ustate, Vice-President, FECODEMIGUA; Pius Ginting, WALHI (Friends of the Earth Indonesia);
Anne Harris, Coal action Network (UK).
At: Mappin Lecture Theatre 2, University of Sheffield. Event organised by Sheffield People and Planet.
