Discussion: War,Trade and Refugees (Derby)
Wednesday 5th December, 7:05pm-9:05pm
Join the Global Justice Derby group at their War and Refugees meeting.
Despite so much opposition, Wars carry on. Why? One of the reasons is that powerful countries and major corporations wage war over trade and resources. The consequent devastation destroys people’s homes and lives and leads to millions of refugees. This matters.
Guy Taylor (Global Justice Now) and Tom Unterrainer (Stop the War) will lead us in an open and informed discussion about the current crisis and what we can do about it.
Venue: Derby Friends Meeting House, St Helen’s St. DE1 3HY (next to Radio Derby)
Together for Climate Justice (London)
Saturday 1st December, 12-3pm
Join Global Justice Now activists on the march Together for Climate Justice.
The main march will assemble at Polish Embassy on Portland Place and march to Downing Street. The Global Justice Now meeting point is outside the Chinese Embassy on Portland Place.
More information
At the end of this month, representatives from the world’s governments will gather in Poland for the next round of UN climate talks. They meet under the shadow of a recent UN report which gave us just 12 years to take the measures necessary to keep global temperatures from rising by 1.5°C – beyond this, the consequences for millions of people around the world will be disastrous.
Yet UN climate talks in Poland hardly augur well. The Polish government has already suggested it will prohibit and repress any protests for climate justice, and it has consistently acted in the UN process as though it is the armed wing of the coal industry.
It has never been more important that we get out on the streets and demand real action on climate change.
