Free the seeds at Mugstock!

Mugstock posterWe’re off to the wonderful new Mugstock festival at the weekend, and we’re taking our free the seeds lucky dip with us. If you fancy some music and merriment with Orkestra del Sol, Kid Canaveral and more great acts than you can shake a stick at, it’s not too late to get a ticket. The festival is on all weekend, but we’ll be there…

Come and say hi if you’re at the festival and try out our amazing free lucky dip – everyone’s a winner. Oh, and you can also find out about our food campaign and take 2 minutes to tell the UK government to stop funding the corporate takeover of African agriculture!

Donald, meet the giant pencil…

IMG_3296bSurprisingly enough, a 4m high inflatable pencil does attract a wee bit of attention in the middle of Buchanan Street! Even Donald Dewar seemed quite impressed – don’t suppose he would have been best pleased with the idea that TTIP would ride roughshod over the democratic powers of the Scottish Parliament.

Hundreds of people found out about the evils of TTIP and loads more added their names to the 2.3million on the EU-wide petition. The people of Glasgow clearly don’t want this corporate power grab to go ahead – we can stop it yet.

After all, if we can stop a giant inflatable pencil blowing away in gale force winds, we can definitely stop TTIP!

Stop TTIP pencil - generic image2.3 million people can’t be wrong – the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership must be stopped. We’ll be out in Buchanan Street (by the steps) with the Giant Stop TTIP Pencil, talking to the good folk of Glasgow about TTIP and encouraging them to add their names to the EU-wide petition.

Austerity and TTIP – the evil twins

IMG_3226bGood to see so many people out in George Square today (Sat 20 June) for the Anti-Austerity rally. And great that we were asked to speak on TTIP – the evils of austerity and corporate-controlled free trade deals are two sides of the same coin. Anna from Global Justice Glasgow made sure that everybody heard that message…and 367 more people signed the EU-wide petition against TTIP. That’s 2.2 million signatures across Europe now – it’s time the politicians started to listen!

Free the Gibson Street seeds!

IMG_3209A grand day out at the Gibson Street Gala on Sunday 31 May. The crowds were out as usual, despite the occasional monsoon-esque downpour and the nasty wind. Our ‘Free the Seeds’ lucky dip was over-run and 234 people signed our petition to the International Development Secretary, Justine Greening, urging her to spend aid money on helping small farmers, not big business. Time to listen to the people, Justine!!

Buchanan St goes global

The real TTIPReally good to be part of the Global Day of Action on Trade yesterday. 35 people from a range of organisations turned up to take action and raise awareness of TTIP amongst the shoppers on Buchanan Street. We spoke to more than 600 people and another 140 added their name to the EU-wide petition. The momentum is building – we can stop TTIP yet…
