Great to be part of the 5000-strong People’s Climate March in Edinburgh yesterday. A really impressive turnout, despite the November rain. Let’s hope the negotiators in Paris are listening to the voice of the people – we need a robust deal. Business as usual is not an option – we need system change, not climate change!
We’re coming up to the end of the European Citizens Initiative petition against TTIP and there are just about 3 million signatures. That’s over a million more than any ECI has achieved before. So it’s time the European Commission and the UK government took some notice of the level of opposition. To mark the International Day of Action on Trade, we’ll be getting together with colleagues from the Scotland Against TTIP coalition to make some noise and get the message across – Stop TTIP!

We’re off to the wonderful new Mugstock festival at the weekend, and we’re taking our free the seeds lucky dip with us. If you fancy some music and merriment with Orkestra del Sol, Kid Canaveral and more great acts than you can shake a stick at, it’s not too late to get a ticket. 2.3 million people can’t be wrong – the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership must be stopped. We’ll be out in Buchanan Street (by the steps) with the Giant Stop TTIP Pencil, talking to the good folk of Glasgow about TTIP and encouraging them to add their names to the EU-wide petition.

Good to see so many people out in George Square today (Sat 20 June) for the Anti-Austerity rally. And great that we were asked to speak on TTIP – the evils of austerity and corporate-controlled free trade deals are two sides of the same coin. Anna from Global Justice Glasgow made sure that everybody heard that message…and 367 more people signed the EU-wide petition against TTIP. That’s 2.2 million signatures across Europe now – it’s time the politicians started to listen!
