Southside Festival

May 13, 2010 by glasgow

The Royal Bank of Shame bankers (as seen on TV!) will be at the Southside Festival

Saturday 22nd May, Queen’s Park

Come along and tell us how you would like to invest your share of the 84% public ownership of RBS – let’s make sure that the new Chancellor hears what you think of a publicly owned bank supporting dirty oil projects before he gets his feet under the table!

Royal Bank of Shame 2

April 30, 2010 by glasgow

If you didn’t get a chance to come and join the action on the day of the RBS AGM, here’s a glimpse of us on Reporting Scotland on the BBC…

And here’s Claire talking about the campaign on Radio Scotland…

Those lovely people at RBS called the police about us, but unfortunately we don’t have a picture of the two very friendly PCs who came to tell us we weren’t doing anything illegal. We’re planning to do this stunt again elsewhere in Glasgow, so watch this space or contact us to get involved.

Royal Bank of Shame

April 25, 2010 by glasgow

Come and join us in taking action outside the Royal Bank of Scotland in Sauchiehall Street, to coincide with the RBS AGM

Wednesday 28th April, 12:30-1:30pm

RBS, Sauchiehall Street (near Buchanan Galleries)

As taxpayers, we own 84% of RBS, so we’ll be asking the people of Glasgow whether they want to invest their share of the bank in the Royal Bank of Shame, or the Royal Bank of Sustainability

For more info about the issues and to see us in action, see this article from the Sunday Herald… http://bit.ly/9v3Fu3

Banking on our future

March 23, 2010 by glasgow

How the bailed-out banks are using our money to finance climate change and human rights abuses

10:30am – 4pm, Saturday 17th April

Stirling Methodist Church, Queen Street, Stirling

Come and hear George Poitras, former chief of the Mikisew Crew, and Clayton Thomas-Muller, coordinator of the Indigenous Environment Network in Canada, give their powerful accounts of how projects funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland are threatening the land, health and human rights of indigenous communities in Canada.

And join WDM Glasgow and other activists on the streets at lunchtime, asking the good people whether they want their money to go into the Royal Bank of Shame or the Royal Bank of Sustainability…

The event is FREE and open to all, but you need to register in advance – email office@wdmscotland.org.uk, or phone 0131-243-2730
