Who would have thought it? The Lib Dems have failed to keep a manifesto pledge. At the 2010 election, they committed to holding a full audit of all the developing country debt owed to the UK government. However, Vince Cable (who is responsible for UK Export Finance, as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills) is now strangely silent on the matter.
So during the Lib Dem conference in Glasgow, we joined up with our friends from Jubilee Scotland to remind him of the issue. Still not sure what was most scary – the skeletons, the giant Vince heads, or the Lib Dems’ failure to live up to their principles…
