At any time we have one major campaign push with between three and five other minor ones running, so you can pick what interests you and work with the group to maximise where your expertise lie.
The main push is for a Fossil Fuel Treaty holding leaders to the 1.5°C target that they agreed in 2015.
There are three pillars:-
- Non-proliferation – End new exploration and production of fossil fuels.
- A fair phase out – Phase out existing stockpiles and production of fossil fuels.
- Just transition – Accelerate a just and equitable transition.
Other areas we focus on are listed in general priority according to the group, local impact and available resources
- Trade – calling for an end to corporate courts. Tribunals are held in secrecy, masking the drive against environmental, supply chain and labour protection.
- Pharma – Many of the most important new medicines are made with public money. But our current system allows big pharma privatise and patent these medicines. We need to put people’s lives before profit.
- Food Sovereignty – Global agribusiness is grabbing land, pushing privatised seeds and promoting mass usage of expensive farming chemicals. This movement helps to redress the balance putting food, people and the environment before the corporate bottom line.
- Aid and debt justice – governments have repeatedly tried to reduce scrutiny of UK aid with the use of the public aid budget to boost private profits. Support democratic accountability to reverse this imbalance.
- Migration – money can move with very few limits, while people are met with repression when attempting to move. We must fight for all people fleeing wars, escaping poverty, to be closer to loved ones or taking up work.
