Instead of our usual meeting, we’ll be having a Christmas social on Tuesday 11th December at the North Laine pub on Gloucester Place, 7pm onwards. More details on ‘Our Next Meeting’ page or just turn up – see you there…
Growing Change screening @ Latin Voices Live
If you missed last month’s free Growing Change screening (see below) we’ll be hosting another screening at Latin Voices Live in the Education Pavilion at Brighton museum this Saturday 17th November at 12pm.
Last month’s screening at the King & Queen was packed out so if you didn’t get the chance to come along to see this inspirational documentary about the Venezuelan food revolution, get down to the Dome and museum this Saturday. The whole day is free and there are a host of events going on including music from Polito Boogaloo plus craft workshops and poetry readings.
FREE Screening of growing change
On Tuesday, 16th October at 7.30 pm at the upstairs function room at the King & Queen pub we are screening Growing Change, an inspiring documentary that looks at one of the most exciting experiments in the world to grow a fair and sustainable food system: the food revolution in Venezuela, where the people are taking back control of food production from corporations. A trailer of the documentary can be viewed here.
Public meeting on the global food crisis
Come to our public meeting on Thursday, 4th October 2012 at 7.30 pm at Friends Meeting House on Ship Street, Brighton for a stimulating discussion about the global food crisis and what can be done about it.
International development economist and author Benny Dembitzer will talk about his new book “Sleepwalking into global famine” and Miriam Ross from the World Development Movement will talk about her recent visit to Venezuela and WDM’s food campaign.
Next meeting in the King & Queen
Please note that we are no longer meeting at BPEC. Our next meeting on Tuesday 14th August will be upstairs at the King & Queen pub on Old Steine.
7:30pm – 9:30pm as always – see you there!
Beware of bankers bearing gifts!
We took our smashing Trojan Horse to the Climate Connections fair last week to raise awareness of the false green economy about to be touted at Rio+20 in a couple of weeks’ time, and asked people to wield pens and sign action cards, calling on MPs to write to Nick Clegg (the UK government’s representative at Rio) urging him to prioritise economic justice and sustainable development. Or you can write to him yourself here.
Pictured is Susanne handing over our action cards to Caroline Lucas, Brighton Pavilion MP.
