Campaigners challenge HSBC on climate change funding
Bradford World Development Movement activists set up a climate ‘crime scene’ outside the HSBC on Market Street, Bradford on 4 December 2013. This was to protest at the bank’s financing of fossil fuel extraction, which is contributing to climate change as well as damaging the environment in countries where it takes place. Members of the public signed cards to demand the bank stop bankrolling climate change. These cards were given to the HSBC manager.
Film night: Food sovereignty
Thanks to everyone who came to the film night last week – the discussion afterwards was really interesting and we learned a lot about what is happening locally to support food sovereignty.
‘Crime scene’: HSBC funds climate change
Activists from Kirklees Campaign against Climate Change and Bradford World Development movement were outside the ‘crime scene’ of Huddersfield HSBC on Saturday 19 October. HSBC provide massive investment to fossil fuel companies. This is causing climate change and destroying communities in countries like Indonesia. Members of the public signed cards to ask HSBC to stop bank rolling climate change and these were given to the bank manager on Saturday.
