ISDS Global Day of Action – 17th October 2026

October 1, 2026 by nottingham

If you care about democracy and climate justice, come along to our day of action on Saturday October 17 in Nottingham city centre
Corporate Courts (a system called ISDS) written into international trade deals allows foreign companies to sue governments for taking action to protect human rights, climate justice & the environment. Unbelievable, right?
It’s happening in the UK NOW.
Our government is being sued for hundreds of millions for stopping a coal mine in Cumbria on climate grounds.
It’s happening all over the world. In Australia, a tobacco giant sued the government over plain packaging on cigarette packets.
For the companies, ISDS is a win-win. If the company can continue to operate unrestrained, it makes large profits. And it is is stopped or regulated it can sue. And still make lots of money. We, the taxpayers, are the losers.
Join us and local groups from Friends of the Earth, Extinction Rebellion, Amnesty and Greenpeace to find out more and demand that our government withdraws from the ISDS system.

We’ll have a stall from 12pm – 2pm at Corner of Pelham Street & Clumber Street NG1 2ED

We’re part of Global Justice Now, a democratic membership organisation which campaigns against inequality and injustice in the global economy. We want to see a world where ordinary people control the resources they need to live a decent life, rather than corporations and the super rich calling the shots.
