Like many other groups, we are considering how best to continue our work In the current coronavirus lock down. We will post something here when we are ready. In the meantime, you may like to read and support the web-site onshoreresident.wordpress.com, edited by one of our members, which continues our campaign against tax havens. http://onshoreresident.wordpress.com

And another petition:
Insist that companies asking for a UK tax-payer funded bailout sign up to a Fair Tax Pledge
We, the general public, call on the UK Government to insist that businesses sign up to fair tax conditions (a ‘Fair Tax Lockdown’) before they are eligible for a bespoke tax-payer funded Coronavirus bailout package.

14th April 2018 We hosted a screening of the film The Spider’s Web at Kingsgate Church, Kingston upon Thames. This was followed by an hour long session of Q&A with John Christensen, co-founder to the Tax Justice Network. Global Justice Now helped to publicise the event and over 70 people came. The film is about tax havens and the UK’s role in facilitating them in its offshore jurisdictions. These jurisdictions remain major players in the unsavoury world of tax havens and secrecy jurisdictions. Our local group continues to be alive to the questions of tax avoidance and money laundering and is trying to campaign on these issues.

2nd September 2018 We had a stall at Kingston Carnival where we collected signatures for the Global Justice petition about Big Pharma. There have been sudden large increases in the price the NHS has to pay for drugs, despite the fact that public money has been used in the early stages of producing a new drug. Since then, we have been following GJ’s campaign.
We’re part of Global Justice Now, a democratic membership organisation which campaigns against inequality and injustice in the global economy. We want to see a world where ordinary people control the resources they need to live a decent life, rather than corporations and the super rich calling the shots.
