TTIP Day of Action

September 4, 2014 by northandeastlondon

At its heart, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is an assault on democracy. So, on the international day of action on 18 April, we are responding to this corporate power grab through enacting democracy ourselves – let this be our Day of Dissent*!

‘Democracy vs TTIP’ will feature an open, participatory assembly on TTIP, followed by an inclusive direct action against the corporate backers of TTIP. We will use the day to reach out widely to the public, bringing to light an issue that is so crucial to us all but invisible to so many.

Speakers at the assembly will include John Hilary (Executive Director, War on Want), Jenny Jones (Green Party), Guy Taylor (Trade Campaigner, Global Justice Now) and Gay Lee (Keep Our NHS Public).

It will be an exciting day. Join us! More details on Facebook.

Democracy vs TTIP is supported by Global Justice Now, War on Want, Friends of the Earth, 38 Degrees, Brick Lane Debates, This Changes Everything, Keep Our NHS Public & Students Against TTIP.

*Days of Dissent is soon to be a monthly action where people can engage in creative acts of dissent all over the UK. Uniting the actions is the belief that deep system change is the only way to achieve a better world. Post 18th April, you’ll hear more about this!

We’re part of Global Justice Now, a democratic membership organisation which campaigns against inequality and injustice in the global economy. We want to see a world where ordinary people control the resources they need to live a decent life, rather than corporations and the super rich calling the shots.
