A Fair Share
Written by admin on March 5, 2010 – 9:30 pm -Global Poverty, Climate Change and Britain’s Carbon Debt
A public meeting with
Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development
Deborah Doane, Director of the World Development Movement
Reverend Ian Galloway, Convenor of the Church of Scotland’s Church and Society Council
Friday 19th March, 6-7:30pm, Wynd Centre, 6 School Wynd, Paisley
Climate change – we caused the problem, but it’s people in the developing world who are facing its worst impacts. We’ve already used more than our fair share of carbon, so it’s time for Britain to pay its climate debt. Come along and ask the Secretary of State why the UK Government wants to loan money to Bangladesh through the World Bank, rather than paying proper compensation for our climate debt.
Free event. All welcome, no need to book.

Cleaning up RBS
Written by admin on March 5, 2010 – 12:59 pm -We own 84% of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and yet they’re still investing in unsustainable fossil fuel projects and paying massive bonuses.
We’re planning a stunt outside a central Glasgow branch of RBS, lunchtime on 1st April – ‘Fossil Fools Day’
If you fancy dressing up as a cleaner or a banker to get the message across to RBS and the wider public,
give us a shout at wdmglasgow@gmail.com. Or just come along and let us know whether you’d rather have your taxes being used to support the Royal Bank of Shame, or to create a Royal Bank of Sustainability.
