We’re doing a wee bit of rebranding this month – adding some more accurate information to Monsanto’s Roundup products in shops and garden centres around the area. The World Health Organisation says glyphosate, the key ingredient in Roundup, ‘probably causes cancer’ and yet the EU is considering relicensing the product for another 15 years. Oh, and there’s a nice article in the Sunday Herald about our action…

If you have 2 minutes, you can email Liz Truss, the Environment Secretary, that we want the UK to vote on the basis of the science, not to listen to the corporate lobbyists.

Those 3 million European signatures against TTIP (not to mention the 50,000+ in Scotland and 14,000+ from Glasgow…) seem to be having an effect… The evil corporate lobbyist couldn’t stand up against all that opposition!

Great to have so many people from the Scotland Against TTIP coalition and the Scottish Greens shouting about the awful corporate power-grab that is TTIP this morning. We’ll stop it yet…

We had a grand day out at Mugstock last weekend with our free lucky dip. The human pea came along to encourage people to Free the Seeds. And loads of people signed action cards telling the UK government to stop throwing aid money at the corporate takeover of African agriculture.

If you missed the chance, you can still tell the government to stop playing corporate games with farmers’ livelihoods.

Surprisingly enough, a 4m high inflatable pencil does attract a wee bit of attention in the middle of Buchanan Street! Even Donald Dewar seemed quite impressed – don’t suppose he would have been best pleased with the idea that TTIP would ride roughshod over the democratic powers of the Scottish Parliament.

Hundreds of people found out about the evils of TTIP and loads more added their names to the 2.3million on the EU-wide petition. The people of Glasgow clearly don’t want this corporate power grab to go ahead – we can stop it yet.

After all, if we can stop a giant inflatable pencil blowing away in gale force winds, we can definitely stop TTIP!

Really good to be part of the Global Day of Action on Trade yesterday. 35 people from a range of organisations turned up to take action and raise awareness of TTIP amongst the shoppers on Buchanan Street. We spoke to more than 600 people and another 140 added their name to the EU-wide petition. The momentum is building – we can stop TTIP yet…
